GEORISKS IN THE AREA OF THE MAIN STRUCTURES OF THE KAMBARATA HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION-1

Dangerous exogenous geological processes in the area of the main structures of the Kambarata HPP-1 (KHPP-1) under construction on the Naryn River include gravitational mass displacements on slopes in the form of a one-time collapse and sliding of rocks (rock falls, landslides, rockfalls, failures, scree). When filling the reservoir, the activity of landslides and rockfalls may increase. Such grandiose landslides can initiate multi-stage (cascade) geo-catastrophes, which can cause a violation of the operating mode of the hydraulic structures of the Naryn cascade of hydroelectric power plants. This article provides updated assessments of geological risks in the area of the main structures of the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1, taking into account the recently approved feasibility study (FS).
