This article examines the challenges of ensuring rock mass stability during underground mining at the Makmal gold deposit. Based on an analysis of the physical and mechanical properties of the host rock and ore body, as well as an assessment of the stress-strain state of the pillars, the authors compare various methods of mining reserves. It was established that the low strength of the ores is due to their increased fracturing, which creates a risk of sudden collapses when using open chambers. Pillar mining with stockpiled chambers is recommended as the safest and most efficient solution for the mine's conditions. This method reduces ore losses, eliminates airbursts, and reduces dynamic loads on the workings.
