Abstract

This paper presents the results of large-scale laboratory tests on the smelting of a new complex ferroalloy—aluminosilicomanganese. High-ash carbonaceous rocks from the Sary-Adyr deposit were used for the first time in Russian practice as the primary source of silicon, aluminum, and reducing agent. The studies confirmed the fundamental feasibility of a continuous slag-free process in a 0.2 MVA ore-smelting furnace. The resulting alloy is characterized by a high aluminum (up to 21%) and silicon (up to 46%) content, while also being highly stable and resistant to self-disintegration.
