Abstract

This article examines the capabilities of the Plaxis software package for solving geotechnical problems using the finite element method. The author describes the program's history, the specifics of using 6-node and 15-node triangular elements, and analyzes key soil models, including elastic-plastic and viscoplastic variants. The paper emphasizes the effectiveness of Plaxis for slope stability calculations, modeling the stress state of rock masses, and analyzing plastic zones around underground workings.
