Abstract

This article presents the results of a study of the physical and mechanical properties of ores and host rocks at the Ishtamberdy gold deposit (Chatkal district). Laboratory testing of core material from geotechnical boreholes was used to determine the density, hydrophysical, and strength properties of the main lithological varieties: metasomatites, metaschists, and marbles. The rocks were found to have low porosity (1.49–5.03%) and a wide range of uniaxial compressive strengths (17–94 MPa). The obtained data on cohesion and the angle of internal friction are necessary for the geomechanical justification of new ore mining technologies under conditions of unstable contacts and vein-shaped ore bodies.
