Abstract

This article describes a methodology for preparing accelerograms for dynamic seismic analysis of earth dams using the FLAC program. The author provides a detailed analysis of the process of transforming initial acceleration records into boundary conditions (velocities and stresses), taking into account the free-surface amplitude doubling effect. Using the example of the Suusamyr earthquake (1992), the author demonstrates the steps of scaling peak accelerations to 0.4g, frequency filtering (to 10 Hz), and adjusting the zero-displacement line for accurate modeling.
