Abstract

This paper examines the dynamics of mudflows and landslides using fundamental principles of continuum mechanics. The authors present a mathematical model of the process based on the Navier-Stokes equations for a viscous incompressible fluid. A nonlinear asymptotic analysis of boundary layer flow dynamics is conducted, taking into account the influence of centrifugal forces and high Reynolds and Görtler numbers. A boundary value problem is formulated for a spatially disturbed vortex region, the solution of which allows us to study the conditions for the transition of laminar flows to turbulent flows and the development of Görtler vortices in natural slope processes.
