This paper examines the mechanisms and factors influencing the rate of displacement of the Davydov Glacier (Kumtor Mine) under conditions of active quarry wall mining. Using numerical modeling in the FLAC 7.0 software package and experimental design theory, the authors substantiate the concept of an "ice layer" at the glacier bed with reduced strength properties. Using a central compositional plan and a Pareto diagram, the significance of various factors, including bed slope, general mining angle, and hydrostatic pressure, was assessed. It was found that bed geometry and quarry wall parameters have the most critical influence on displacement dynamics, while the effect of subglacial water pressure, within the framework of the adopted Mohr-Coulomb model, was found to be insignificant.
