DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A SCALABLE E-PETITION SYSTEM: A MONOLITHIC ARCHITECTURE APPROACH FOR LOCALIZED E-DEMOCRACY

In the digital age, an electronic petition is one way for citizens to express their opinions, complaints, or proposals on matters of interest or public service. In fact, through international websites such as Change.org and Avaaz.org, etc. It is not uncommon for them to fail to meet the needs of each country, particularly when flexibility, transparency, and data protection are required.
Here, we introduce the design and evaluation of an e-petition system for local citizens. Our proposed system is implemented using the Django framework and a PostgreSQL database. Our proposed system utilizes the monolithic approach and attempts to maintain the equilibrium between ease of use, reliability, and security aspects required in a local e-petition system with the adoption of necessary moderation features to prevent misbehaviors (abuses) during the gathering of local citizen votes, measures to avoid any types of possible abuse from non-local users namely fraud and additional aspects such as data protection for the citizens.
