Abstract

This paper examines the stress-strain state (SSS) of the soil mass and precast reinforced concrete lining of the Almaty Metro tunnel. Using the finite element method (FEM) in a plane formulation, the problem of distributing static and seismic loads at a depth of 30 meters was solved. The modeling was performed using eight-node isoparametric elements, which allowed for a detailed calculation of stress concentrations in the vicinity of a vaulted tunnel. The authors conducted a comparative assessment of the physical and mechanical properties of the weak soil and its cementation-reinforced zones. The results of the numerical experiment are presented as longitudinal force and circumferential stress diagrams, confirming that the roof and hanging walls of the tunnel are the most heavily loaded sections of the structure.
