Abstract

This article presents the results of in-situ surveys of the stability of supporting structures in mining systems at the Kadamzhai and Chon-Koy deposits in Kyrgyzstan. A comparative analysis of the room-and-pillar and shrunken ore systems was conducted as mining depths increased to 450–500 m. The authors identified a pattern of sharp increases in roof and hanging wall failures, beginning at depths of 160–200 m, due to a discrepancy between the designed working spans and the actual stress-strain state of the massif. Using correlation analysis and engineering calculations, it was demonstrated that at greater depths, outcrop parameters and pillar sizes require adjustments, taking into account not only the weight of the overlying rock but also tectonic stresses.
