Abstract

This article examines the complex factors that determine soil salinization and degradation under intensive irrigated agriculture. The author systematizes the natural, climatic, and anthropogenic causes of salt accumulation, such as intense evaporation, geomorphological features of the area, groundwater depth and mineralization, as well as the influence of vegetation cover and irrigation water quality. Particular attention is paid to the problem of seepage losses in irrigation canals and the need to transition to quantitative methods for assessing salt migration. Priority areas for scientific and theoretical research are proposed, including mathematical modeling of salt transfer processes based on physicochemical hydrodynamics for the development of effective land reclamation forecasts.
