This article examines the neotectonic development and modern geodynamics of the Northern Tien Shan lithosphere. Using satellite imagery, the authors clarify the position of major faults, particularly the Chelik-Kemin fault, which is associated with high seismic activity in the region and the sources of destructive earthquakes. A block model of the Earth's crust is proposed, describing the interaction of uplifts (mountain ranges) and basins. Particular attention is paid to the role of sublatitudinal and northwest-trending faults in the formation of the modern orographic plan. The study substantiates the need to monitor the stress-strain state of fault banks for safe urban planning, including the development of Almaty.
