Abstract

This article examines hazardous natural processes (HNPPs) in the Sumsar-Shekaftar mining district of Kyrgyzstan. The authors classify geomechanical processes as hazardous and non-hazardous, focusing on the destructive impact of landslides, rockfalls, and rockfalls on anthropogenically altered terrain. The paper examines in detail the history and dynamics of the Shekaftar landslide, which intensified in the 1990s due to a combination of natural factors and anthropogenic activities (leaks from water mains and irrigation canals). A forecast list of potential sites for exogenous process activation in the Chatkal district is presented, identifying specific risk areas (residential buildings, roads) and the necessary protective measures.
