This article examines the physical and mechanical properties of rocks comprising gold deposits in Kyrgyzstan in zones affected by tectonic faults. The authors analyze the influence of various types of metamorphism (dislocation, thermal, and dynamo-thermal) on changes in the structure, composition, and strength characteristics of the host rocks. The paper presents summarized data on density, porosity, and compressive and tensile strengths for the main types of metamorphic rocks (granitoids, schists, skarns, etc.). It has been established that rocks in fault zones are characterized by high fracturing, brittleness, and a significant reduction in strength (up to 37%) upon water saturation, which must be taken into account to ensure the safety of mining operations in open-pit mines.
