Abstract

This article examines the physical principles and practical application of the ultrasonic (seismoacoustic) method for determining the stress-strain state (SSS) of rocks. The author describes the relationship between elastic wave propagation velocity and applied loads and provides examples of the use of modern equipment (Ultrasound and UK-PROGNOZ systems) at deposits in the Khibiny Massif and the Kola Peninsula to prevent rock bursts.
