Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations and methods for calculating the hydrochemical regime of groundwater subject to anthropogenic pollution. The authors analyze two key applied problems: the operation of a linear coastal water intake in a semi-confined aquifer and the salt balance of a through-flow reservoir interacting with confined aquifers. Using separation of variables and self-similar substitutions, a class of new analytical solutions to convective diffusion equations for cases of equilibrium and nonequilibrium sorption is obtained.
