Abstract

This article examines an analytical study of the elastic-plastic deformation of a straight round shaft under torsion, taking into account the linear hardening of the material. Based on the approximation of a real shear diagram with a three-bar broken line, the authors derive mathematical relationships for calculating the torque during the elastic, elastic-plastic, and inelastic stages of operation. A step-by-step dimensionless algorithm for constructing the integral dependence of torque on the shaft torsion angle is formulated, and the maximum load it can support is determined.
