Abstract

This article examines mathematical modeling of the geomechanical state of the rock mass around an underground tunnel with an oval cross-section. The authors present a method for analytically calculating stress and strain components based on complex potentials of a plane elasticity problem. A comparative analysis of the stress field distribution at the computational grid nodes is conducted for two different spatial orientations of the tunnel—one with a horizontal and the other with a vertical major axis.
