INTERNET DISCOURSE AS A SPECIAL TYPE OF DISCOURSE

This article examines the linguistic characteristics of internet discourse as a specific form of computer-mediated communication based on English-language online vocabulary. The authors analyze in detail the main methods of word formation in the virtual environment, including affixation, conversion, compounding, conjugation, and various types of abbreviation. Particular attention is paid to the pragmatic reasons for the formation of electronic language, the semantic processes of word meaning change, and the tendency to contrast the concepts of the virtual and real worlds.
